The concept of "digital dementia" is a topic of ongoing debate and controversy in the fields of neuroscience and psychology.

Manfred Spitzer, a German neuroscientist and psychiatrist, has written extensively on this topic and coined the term "digital dementia" to describe the potential long-term cognitive and memory problems that may arise from excessive digital media use.

In a few years, this could easily be recognized as a medical diagnosis or a formal type of dementia in the same sense as Alzheimer's disease

I/We have to start controlling our screen time and forcing us to go out to nature. Remember, sunlight gives us 2/3 of the energy we need per day!

The chart of the week

GenZ isn’t so big into AI. 

The survey of 1,274 young people (ages 14–22) was conducted in November 2023. 

The bulk of kids who do use GenAI use it to get information, brainstorm ideas and get homework help.
