SurvAIval Insights #22_24

Legacy media movements, Google looks bad again, and Musk gets more money!

This is what we have today, fellas!

Fast weekly summary

  • Elon Musk gets + $6B for his new AI company. AI supercomputer's unprecedented scale and cost highlights the intense competition and arms race among tech giants.

  • Google's new AI Overview feature, designed to provide summaries at the top of search results, has faced widespread criticism for generating inaccurate, misleading, and dangerous information. Again, Google?

  • Vox Media and the Atlantic are the next to bow to OpenAI. Legacy media players are split into two groups. One group wants to accept OpenAI's VC money because content scraping is inevitable. The other group, led by the New York Times, refuses to legitimize this practice and has filed several large lawsuits against OpenAI.

My mini survAIval insight of the week

Thoughts for the future:

They say that what gives meaning to humans is feeling useful. What happens when we don’t have to work (fight) to survive and take care of our families? The future may bring a potential lack of meaning for humans.

Huge changes come with emotional distress and adaptation challenges. In moments like these, practicing self-knowledge is important. What better way to do that than by expressing ourselves?

Understanding that we are in an exceptional moment brings a sense of urgency and excitement that can fuel us to move forward. The Second Renaissance is coming!

I think about (and repeat myself) these 3 ideas every day to face this potential scenario, and besides, it helps me stay consistent when motivation disappears!

The chart of the week
