In today's world, it's easy to get caught up in the anxiety of what's to come, especially when it comes to AI. We fear losing our jobs, being outpaced by technology, or becoming irrelevant in the ever-accelerating rat race. But as the saying goes, the past is a memory, the future is a dream (or mystery), and the present is a gift.

By grounding ourselves in the present, we can find clarity, reduce overwhelm, and take control of our lives amidst the uncertainty AI presents. The future may be unknown, but we can take actionable steps now to embrace AI without fear and enhance our creativity, humanity, and purpose.

Here are a few actionable insights to help you stay present and turn AI into an ally rather than a threat:

1. Focus on Unique Human Skills Dedicate 15 minutes a day to a creative pursuit or emotional awareness exercise. Journaling, meditating, or even doodling can help unlock your human edge.

2. Stay Informed, But Don’t Overwhelm Yourself Limit your AI news intake to a 10-minute window each day, focusing on positive or practical applications of AI in your field. Did you hear about SurvAIval Insights yet?

3. Balance Digital and Physical Spaces Set up non-negotiable “screen-free” times each day to take a walk, practice mindfulness, or engage in face-to-face interactions. Be present about it!

This week we don’t have a chart, but we have a list 🙂

The 2024 list, featuring 91 new additions, demonstrates the rapidly evolving AI field. These individuals span various industries and regions, from a 15-year-old advocate for deepfake victim protection to a 77-year-old Chinese computer scientist calling for international AI regulation.

TIME's purpose in creating the TIME100 AI list is to facilitate dialogue between AI leaders like Sundar Pichai, Google’s CEO, and Meredith Whittaker, President of Signal and to showcase diverse perspectives.
