Are AI Agents going to take my job?

Mental shifts to navigate this transition effectively

Last week, we introduced the concept of AI Agents and their capabilities. In this one, I want to introduce the mental shifts and frameworks necessary to survive in this new era where work is going to change forever.

And as always, at the bottom, you have a selection of the news of the week to stay updated and spark your curiosity, as well as cool tools and lessons that can enhance your life.

If you like these insights and information, consider forwarding it to a friend!

That’s damn right!

Why am I creating this?

Because I'm genuinely fascinated by how things are evolving and changing. I want to invite you to adopt the mindset I have now, as I believe it's crucial to do so facing the rapid pace of advancements and changes.

Are AI Agents going to take my job?

If you dislike your job or perform it at a mediocre level, you might indeed be replaced. However, if you are putting in hours, effort, and curiosity, you are open to change and to being adaptable, you have the desire to learn and get better at something you like, and you think that it is important in some way, AI agents will be a plus that will allow you to increase the value of whatever you are going to be doing.

  1. The first mental shift to navigate this transition effectively is:

Reflect on your motivations and aspirations, considering whether your current life and work paths align with your long-term goals.

I had to ask myself this hard question: Why are you doing what you are doing? Maybe you will have to go through some changes, but it is going to be worth it. If you spend your time on something you dislike, a robot is going to do it way better than you do.

Think about what your dream job would be. Now is the time to implement a mental shift to be imaginative and have fun. I really do think that.

  1. The second mental shift:

Start thinking as the owner of a company instead of an employee, or, if you will, a project manager.

Not long ago, I was pursuing the path of being a film director. I knew I was going to have to respond to other people above me who may or may not have the same goal as I did. I know the industry well enough to know that I was going to have to fight and waste a lot of emotional and mental energy to do what I wanted to do. Now, with the help of this new technology, I will look for a way to do it on my own terms.

This situation offers an opportunity to develop new capabilities in areas of management and leadership and develop essential skills such as effective communication, delegation, and problem-solving, as these will remain valuable in a rapidly evolving workplace.

To be successful, you will need basic knowledge of all the areas in which you are seeking help. With it, you will be way more efficient in communicating what you need to your agents.

Another thing to think about is the following: The quality of your data set will define the quality of your output. Remember that!

  1. The third mindset shift:

Adopt a proactive mindset and stay curious about technology and the future, as understanding emerging trends and technologies will be crucial for staying relevant in the workforce and positioning yourself for success in the era of AI-powered work.

  1. The fourth mindset shift:

Leveraging AI agents to streamline operations, enhance productivity and welcome automation.

Create a list of tasks you do in your day, or if you have an idea of a job you would like to do, how can you get there?

Remember, the idea here is to enter into the mindset of how I can automate what I do in my life. Be imaginative!

Let's see my framework:

  • What are the goals I want to accomplish (in life or at work)?

  • List the problems you will have to solve.

  • How would you combine the fundamental capabilities of AI Agents (planning, being able to take actions, text, video, sound, etc.) to solve those problems?

Conclusions

The nature of work will change, driven by advancements in AI and automation.

Jobs will be eliminated, and others will be created. Society will have to adapt to this new paradigm, and hopefully, with this promised abundance generated by AI and automation, we will be able to take care of the basic needs of our people.

Will this make us less productive and more lazy? I don't think so.

The only way I see we can survive is if we focus on what is really meaningful for us and we like, then adapt AI to make us better at it while providing better value.

The thing I am confident enough to say out loud is: This shit is going fast. I won't get tired of reiterating: we are entering the epitome of efficiency, marking a new era of time management. Those who are pioneers in integrating agents into their lives and work will have an insulting advantage over those who do not.

So, are you ready to start creating digital entities? In the following weeks, we’ll start with our own GPT.

Thanks so much for your time.

See you soon!
